MESSAGE FROM THE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Welcome to Festival Resonances 2026, the 15th edition!

Once again, an exceptional group of artists, including some stars of the younger generation appearing for the first time at Resonances, will descend upon Château de Halloy to perform in no less than 9 concerts over the the long weekend of 22-25 May.

This year’s festival programme features some of the greatest works ever written by the giants of chamber music: Beethoven’s Razumovsy quartet no.1, Brahms’ piano Quintet, Mozart’s D minor string quartet, Shostakovich’s 2nd piano trio to name a few…
This edition will wake us up gently with one of Haydn’s last string quartets in the opening concert on 22nd May, and will end poignantly & profoundly with one of the greatest pieces ever written in the Final concert on 25th May; Schuberts’s famous string quintet written shortly before his death at 31 years of age.
But alongside these pillars of the chamber music repertoire will be the chance to hear rarely heard and stunning works of Grazyna Bacewicz, Karl Weigl, Amy Beach and Rebecca Clarke.
There will be moments of dark intensity found in the works of Shostakovich, Schnittke…. but also moments of light and peace with composers such as Mendelssohn, Glazunov and our beloved Haydn.
There is a concert dedicated to motherhood and a concert full of the devil and ghosts, featuring the harp in a highly evocative work of Caplet based on a story of Edgar Allen Poe.

The children of the local schools of Braibant and Sovet will be in for a treat too with workshops leading up to the festival which will prepare them for their very own concert on the 20th May at the Grange de Halloy given by festival musicians.

Thanks to our wonderful team of volunteers, the bar and food services will be available in between and after the concerts in the tent outside where audience and artists can meet, share a drink, a meal or a conversation about the concert they just heard.

We are looking forward to filing the barn yet again with music, and to enjoying the convivial atmosphere of Resonances that brings our audience close to share these intimate concerts.

See you in May at Halloy!
