Alma Vink

Dutch-British violinist Alma Vink is currently studying with Arisa Fujita at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. During her English undergraduate degree at the University of Cambridge (2021-2024), she studied with David Takeno in London, with whom she continues to have lessons now.

Alma recently appeared as a soloist in Saint-Saëns’ 3rd violin concerto in a concert with the London Phoenix Orchestra at Sinfonia Smith Square. In May 2024, she was awarded the opportunity to perform as a soloist in Haydn’s Sinfonia Concertante with the Cambridge University Orchestra, directing the orchestra from the violin. Prior engagements include performances of concerti by Mendelssohn and Bach.

Alma is a passionate and experienced chamber musician. As a member of the Telyn string quartet, she has been mentored by musicians such as David Waterman, Ralph de Souza, Scott Dickinson, Donald Grant, Sini Simonen and Catherine Manson, through the ChamberStudio UK professional mentorship scheme and Tunnel Trust’s Music Coll course. This summer the quartet was in residence at the Southwell Festival as their 2025 String Apprentices, receiving a glowing review for their recital of quartets by Britten, Maconchy and Ravel. While at Cambridge, she actively participated in the vast number of chamber music opportunities, and was on the Instrumental Award Scheme, receiving coaching from the Doric string quartet.

Alma recently appeared alongside Philippe Graffin, Jeroen Reuling, Pierre-Henri Xuereb and Chen Halevi in a performance of Brahms’ clarinet quintet at Masterclass Apeldoorn, which she attended with a full scholarship from het Kersjes Fonds. She has benefitted from many other masterclass courses such as the London Masterclasses, La Loingtaine, Dartington Festival and Festival Resonances Academy.

On baroque violin, she has been mentored by Margaret Faultless and Nicholas Mulroy, and has worked with Rachel Podger at the Dartington Festival. Her musical experience ranges broadly, showing a keen interest too in contemporary music. She has had the chance to play to and work with prominent living composers such as Errollyn Wallen, Nico Muhly and Hawar Tawfiq.

As an orchestral musician, Alma has worked with conductors such as Martyn Brabbins, Alexei Ogrintchouk, Jac van Steen, among others. She was principal of the second violins in the Cambridge University Orchestra and Opera Society. Recent professional engagements include being invited by the Esbjerg Ensemble in Denmark to play in the Den Ny Opera summer production of “The Magic Flute”, and leading second violins in the Storioni Festival String Soloists.
