Roel Dieltiens studied in Antwerp, Belgium, with A. Messens and in Detmold, Germany with A. Navarra.
A soloist with an international reputation, Dieltiens is generally considered an authority on the modern cello, as well as on the baroque cello.
He has brought his great personality and unconventional approach to major concert halls all over the world (Paris, Berlin, London, New York, Tokyo, Moscow, etc.)
His chamber music Ensemble Explorations is also widely known.
The CD recordings at Harmonia Mundi have alwaysbeen very highly praised.

Roel Dieltiens teaches cello at the Hochschule fûr Musik und Theater in Zurich (Switzerland) and appears as a member of the jury in international competitions such as the Leipzich Bach Wettbewerb, Moscow Tchaikowski Competition and Belgrade Competiton, etc.
Dieltiens was the subject of a 2006 Belgian television documentary film.
